Bonds & Coffee: How We Celebrated International Coffee Day

Those of you who have been with BeMyBond for a while may remember that we used to open bond offerings just after midnight. The idea was to check quietly that everything was running smoothly while you were asleep.

But you… weren’t asleep. You set alarms, invested in the middle of the night, and some offerings were fully placed before 8 in the morning. That’s when we joked that we probably owed you a coffee for all that lost sleep.

We’ve since moved our offering start time to 9 a.m., but we never forgot about that coffee. So on 1 October, International Coffee Day, we finally made good on the promise. We spent the whole day, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Espresinė in Žvėrynas, Vilnius, home of what we dare say is some of the best coffee in town. Everyone was welcome: our Investors, newsletter Readers, and anyone curious about investing. Coffee (or any other drink of their choice) was on us.

Coffee and investing: the hypothesis holds

We went in with a simple theory: coffee and investing go hand in hand. Both are enjoyable, both are good for you, and both tend to spark great conversations. After a full day at Espresinė, we can confirm the hypothesis was right.

Throughout the day, guests stopped by to meet the BeMyBond team in person, ask questions about bonds and investing, and talk through where to begin and whether investing is right for them. Some came as long-time investors, others signed up for our newsletter on the spot. Either way, the energy was positive all day long.

Many of us occasionally daydream about working in a café: making great coffee, chatting with people, and brightening someone’s day. We didn’t get to make the coffee ourselves this time (it’s only a matter of time), but we loved every minute of it.
